New students:
1. Within 15 days of entry, complete the Residence Permit application with a visa. 【Due to the gradual liberalization of Taiwan's COVID-19 border, for those who entered the country from December 1, 111, the extension to complete within 45 days was canceled. 】
Foreign students, Overseas chinese students: Visa renewal holders can apply directly online. 【The duration of the visa is one year. If you are a Taiwan Scholarship recipient, you can apply for a residence permit for more than one year. 】
Hong Kong and Macau students: Holders of an Entry Permit for Taiwan will have to complete a residence health check at a contracted hospital before applying online. 【There are three types of permits: 1 year, 2 years, and 3 years; different fees are charged. 】
Mainland students: Holders of single-entry permits for multiple-entry permits must first complete a medical check-up at a contracted hospital before applying online.

2. After obtaining your Residence Permit, go to The Office of Academic Affairs to apply for a change of information.
3. After obtaining a Residence Permit, you can open an account at a post office and apply for a work permit.
4. Residence permit is an important document, lost must be personally to the Immigration Department service station for loss and replacement.
Older students:
1. 30 days prior to expiration date, online extension will be started.
2. If your residence permit expires, you will be fined, and you will have to pay the fine before you can extend your permit. If the expiration date is more than 90 days, you will have to leave the country and apply for a new visa before re-entering the country.
3. Entering and exiting the country for winter and summer vacations, and entering the country before the start of the school year:
(1) Make sure that your residence permit is valid for re-entry.
(2) If you can extend your resident card online during your departure, please do so immediately.
4. When you leave the country after graduation or suspension of studies, your residence permit becomes invalid. If you are a student who has left the country, please bring your departure ticket and your resident card to one of the service stations of the Immigration Department to return your resident card. This will prevent you from being charged health insurance premiums when you return to Taiwan to resume your studies.
5. If you plan to stay in Taiwan after graduation, you must bring your graduation certificate to one of the Immigration Service's service centers to replace your resident card within 15 days of obtaining your graduation certificate.
Important reminder: If you have changed your address information on your Certificate of Residence, please complete the change within 15 days at one of our service centers.Any discrepancy between your place of residence and your actual place of residence will result in a fine.
