Activity Name: Hokkaido University of Education collaborated with UT on the “Global Issues Workshop”

Description of the activity:

This course is a UT online micro-credit course in collaboration with our sister university, Hokkaido University of Education. The course was designed to help students explore global issues and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to develop confident and fluent communication in English. Through the weekly online course, students were able to collaborate with students from other countries to find information on relevant topics, engage in interactive discussions in English, and deliver fluent and detailed oral presentations.

A total of 28 students participated (11 students from Hokkaido University of Education and 17 students from University of Taipei) and were co-facilitated by Corrie MacMillan from the Department of English Education and Professor Andrew Ryan from Hokkaido University of Education. The topics were global issues such as climate change, renewable energy, gender issues, poverty issues, etc.
